On my continuing list of supermarket infidelity, Asda makes an occasional appearance. I tend to come-in here when I'm in a hurry, with a certain goal in mind.
I rate their Extra Special wine selection which cleverly allows you to to buy a mini bottle so you can try before you opt for the full-price, full-size number. The wholefood section also has good things and has improved greatly, recently.
Staff here are very helpful and polite for instance, when I've requested an item that's missing from the shelves, even coming to track me down to inform me if they've been able to find it, while I'm continuing to shop.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype Gebruiker (Highvi…)Londen, Verenigd Koninkrijk15019 nov 2008
Not the largest one (but there is one of those at Roehampton just a short hop on the K3 bus away). Decent range and the prices are always good also fresh items can be reduced significantly when the sell by date is close so always worth a check for these. Staff always seem happy and willing to help you out of your confusion. Recently slightly remodelled. It's easy to fill up your trolley here with lots of things you never knew you wanted before entering the store. Plenty of parking outside and a nearby Boots for items Asda has not stocked. A Wickes opposite if you are into DIY.

Hmmmm, what can you really say about an ASDA that people don't already know?? Well, I can tell you what I know
This is my local large supermarket which I go to about once a week. Big parking lot with attendants who will happily wash your car for a fiver.
3 bank machines out front.
They're recently (a few months back) renovated the place adding a medium sized fresh fish counter, freshly made pizza counter, more checkout isles and more self-serve checkouts as well; I've always found the check-out queues not too long now.
There's a good selection of fresh/hot meals - the usual collection of Indian and Chinese snacks (spring rolls, samosas, etc ) plus meals full meals. I've had these a few times and they do the job but nothing special (i.e. the curries a bit bland for the general pallet).
They have fab. specials though! The Oops! price reductions are fab. for packaged meals, meats, cheeses and packaged vegetables/fruits which have a shelf-life of only 1 or 2 days. If you go there about 2 or 3 that seems to be the time when all these foods are being discounted, plus you avoid the noon and post-work rush.
The in-store bakery is adequate, but lacks variety. Only a few types of breads and pastries - functional stuff but not things you'd buy for a special dinner or occasion.
Oh, and they have fab. drink specials, usually all the time, but there's always crates of lager specials or 3 bottles for £10 wine specials. I remember back in the summer when they were doing 3 crates of lager for £20. 60 bottles of Kronenburg for £20!! I went in only for a couple of items, and wheeled up to the checkout 6 crates of lager and some token cheese, bread and a couple of ready meals how sad! :-)
