I love Manouche.. It is a stones throw away from my friends flat and when I come to Berlin Manouche is one of the first things we do. The ambiance is amazing with communal like seating. The place is small, literally like a basement of an apartment complex that has an entry way off the street. Many of the apparent buildings have businesses like this.
The crepes here are delicious with both savory and sweet and the salads as well are good. There is a full bar menu with a limited selection of wines and beer. The portions here are big enough that I normally have to take out my meal . Location wise it is in my favorite part of Berlin which is Kreuzberg meaning after dinner you can go to the a nearby bar of cafe. One thing that I will say is that service her is great and super friendly but a little slow. So be patient and don't have a conniption fit!! Also bring Euros they do not accept debit or credit cards here.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Hannes H.Berlijn, Duitsland1052638524 nov 2014
This place offers some really great crepes. The decor is very much alternative, but certainly has some charme. For the food they offer crepes in all different forms. If you are hungry a great option is to start with a savoury galette and then finish with a delicious sweet crepes. They also offer cidre that goes great with the crepes.

It's cozy, beautiful and charming. The food is great and the atmosphere is astonishingly cozy.
The service is charmingly French (!), and they have a Berliner rudeness which just adds up.
The kitchen is tiny and it's always crowded, so you have to wait a long time for a table, to order, for food, to pay.....but it's worth it, but only if you don't have an appointment right after.
I would have given manouch a 5-star if it wasn't for the waiting, they have a lot to do indeed, but I think they could organize things a bit better.
And if you have a date, this is the place, better try out those French kisses in the room in the back. ;)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Emma Louise M.Bellevue, Verenigde Staten11431365157910 sep 2011
This was something that simply had to be squeezed into our Berlin trip. Crepes are always irresistible in general, but them being made into a savoury meal is something I've never experienced before. Is it possible that they could be just as delicious with cheese and tomatoes as they are with say Nutella, or sugar and lemon?
Well, Manouche had the answer. Firstly it was recommended by one Elodie F, whose opinion on food I take as gospel. Why? Firstly she's split her life between two culinary capitals, Paris and Dublin. Secondly, she knows Berlin, and thirdly, she's the Yelp community manager for *Paris*! If she don't know grub, no one does. And heck, are we glad we found it. Located in what was fast becoming one of my fave Berlin neighbourhoods, Manouche is one of those basement cafés with haphazard outdoor seating... but as soon as wasps began to attack our beers, we retreated from the afternoon sun into this cosy, quirky and eclectic little shelter. This eclectic flair was indeed reflected in the music we heard, which I think we must have Soundhounded at least four songs of.
But onto the food, and within minutes I'd forgotten that sugar and lemon or Nutella existed. We ordered one with sundried tomatoes, pesto and other such Italian savoury goodies, and the other was Elodie's recommended honey and goat's cheese crepe. The latter came scattered with walnuts, and both were nestled next to full side salads and offered in different origami-esque crepe shapes. Wow. The crepe batter itself was deliciously savoury, and I simply couldn't decide which was my favourite. The pesto on the first was absolutely delicious, clearly homemade. And this was all so ridiculously cheap too!
Impressed is an understatement. It looks as if this place becomes quite the boho hangout in the evenings, and I'd love nothing more than to head back here, share a savoury crepe in the evening alongside a cold beer and watch some folksy live music. Shame I'd have to cross the continent to do so...Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Laura S.Oakland, Verenigde Staten217564220 feb 2013
Wonderful.
Everybody who works there is super friendly and cute. The athmosphere is cozy and beautifully french and "berlinesque" at the same time. I love this place and their creative Crêpes!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Chris M.Kreuzberg, Berlijn, Duitsland12223 nov 2014
Food is great - unfortunately I cannot go there anymore as I am not prepared to wait 1h and longer for my food. Also the girl working behind the bar isn't exactly customer friendly. This summer when we saw the place was very busy we asked if it makes sense to wait or if it would take very long and maybe return another time (perfectly fair question). What we got was an unfriendly mumble after which she just walked off.
I might be old fashioned but also believe that if you wait more than 1h and the person serving should out of respect just notice and drop a word of courtesy when bringing the food. Small gestures like these make a difference and then all the anger just vanishes because they show they care. So, when I went their again that's what I would have expected. Instead we got our plates served without a word.
In summary: If time isn't your issue than this is a good place. If time and service matter to you - I would go somewhere else.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Alland B.Berlijn, Duitsland5976828 jun 2012
I adore this place. If you're hanging around Graefe kiez this is the spot to go for a sweet date and fine French crepes. The staff is anything but friendly, but find me a place in Berlin with cute waitresses that ARE friendly and attentive, and I'll buy you a crepe. You can't have your crepe and eat it too, i suppose :)
The decor is very cool, the atmosphere is chill and cozy and the food is delicious. Definitely my favorite place for a first date and/or evening munching with friends.
One of my favorite secret gems in Berlin. Just be prepared to wait a while for service (though the food always arrives warm and wonderful).Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Flavor G.Berlijn, Duitsland2190330 dec 2013
Love this French place. Very cozy atmosphere and great galettes. The only caveat is that it's often very full, so be prepared to wait.
Good prices and excellent quality, one of my favorite places in the kiez.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lívia V.Berlijn, Duitsland0518 mei 2015
Definitely make a reservation. Is always packed and without one you could wait forever and none will come to serve you.
But I think it depends on luck, but when I managed to be served it was a really good and big crepe.
The place has a nice vibe, kinda dark with candle lights.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Deborah J.Ann Arbor, Verenigde Staten027115 feb 2014
Yes, you should be prepared to wait; yes, you will probably have to share a table; yes, it's as good as the crowds suggest.
On a recent, my partner and I worked up quite an appetite while waiting for our table, and decided to order two savory and two sweet galettes, as well as the requisite house cider. The savories were spectacular, although, on second thought, one of them, with goat cheese, walnuts, and honey, would have also been wonderful for dessert. The other -- one of the classic ham/cheese/mushroom variants -- was in a mild buckwheat pancake, and just perfectly balanced. The pair together would easily make the perfect meal.
The sweet galettes were more mixed. An apple-filled crepe was good, but not particularly exciting. A banana and rum filled combination had much potential, but when our server attempted to flambé it, the alcohol wouldn't light. My boyfriend -- mistakenly, I think -- asked our server to bring a bit more rum sauce, and light that. However, the server brought a whole additional cup of it, so while it did flambé as expected, the end result was that we had rum-soggy pancake, and not enough bananas to off-set the bitterness. This might be okay if you really like flambé grade rum, but I would have preferred something more balanced.
Overall, a lovely place, but don't try to go with a group, or on a first date. Also, you need to be proactive about getting a table. Advocate for yourself, but don't be like the skinny bitches who stole a spot from the couple ahead of us, and then proceeded to sit in such a way that no one could sit next to them. Those girls ordered salads, too! The salads looked good, but who orders a salad when you could have a galette?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
