This is an upscale seafood restaurant in Oxford that is probably the best in town. The fish is fresh and consistently well prepared. The service is attentive. The main complaint is that it is not at all inexpensive. With an appetizer, meal, drinks, dessert and tip you are easily talking about 50 pounds per person. So it has to be a special occasion to eat here, but the quality is very good.

During my quick trip to Oxford I found this little gem of a place. I had lunch there and to properly break my veggie diet (for a month) I ordered their most popular dish Fish & Chips...and can I say it was wonderful! It was flaky, not too greasy and not fishy (as most non-fresh fish tend to taste). Anyway I was happy with this find. I would recommend to anyone.
Do note that it may not be super cheap but good quality and friendly staff(Haddock & Chips + glass of Presseco = 21.something BP)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - nottellinya a.San Diego, Verenigde Staten1583628 apr 2012
Overpriced let-down. I have walked past this place so many times, but for some reason we have never been. We went last night, I wish we had not.
The lay-out of the place is terrible. If you are not squashed right next to a window, you are crammed into an aisle with servers swishing past (the larger ones bumping you) almost constantly. You could forgive this if the service and food was great. It was not.
We started with the whitebait and the scallops. The portions were meagre (3 scallops, strangely only two had their tail? Where is the third? I don't like to look down and know the number of whitebait there without even counting). The mains were the baked cod on mash with mushroom sauce and she had some nondescript fish on a pesto risotto (instead of the salsa verde as they didn't have this for some reason). The risotto was horrible. Really oily from the pesto which was overpowering. The mash was bland, despite flecks of what I presume was an a cursory attempt at seasoning. The fish was really well cooked, but the portion was very small. I didn't get a knife for my main, but had eaten the cod, swerving the potato by the time the server came to ask if it was "OK". OK? Is that the standard we are going for? Well, yes, I guess it is OK in as much as it is not terrible? Yeah, it is OK. She didn't like that. Well don't ask then. Go through the motions with someone else as I am paying too much for this to play false platitudes. The deserts were nice. Sticky toffee pudding and she had an amaretto & espresso covered ice-cream.
Talking about the place with friends afterwards, a couple had been and said it was OK. Mind, they had been for the cheaper early-evening menu or lunch menu. If it was half the price, maybe I would not have been so disappointed, but I still would not return.
The place is certainly not "up-scale" as others have suggested, with no apparent dress-code. The great unwashed are most welcome. Anyone with money is, seemingly.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Finders K.Oxford, Verenigd Koninkrijk06018 jun 2010
This restaurant sits just over Magdalen Bridge, on St. Clements. Despite being nowhere near the sea, the fish is fresh and delicious. One of our East Oxford team's favourite places to eat. Fishers is a supporter of the RNLI and of sustainable fishing.

We had a pleasant dinner here. The food was tasty and the service was attentive. Many customers were there on dates or out with family. There is a pay parking lot directly behind the restaurant. We would go back.

I went here on Valentine's day, hoping for a great experience. This restaurant was recommended by someone who has personally lived and worked in the City for the past 20 years, so I took notice of his advice and booked a table for the 14th Feb.
The food was a large disappointment to be blunt - my starter consisted of the smallest flank of mackerel on top of some bitter pickled cucumber skin. For the entree I had a really really measly piece of tuna, which was fried and placed on the plate soaked in what tasted like vegetable oil. The steak itself was tough and overcooked - don't even get me started on the side vegetables/chips! I cook better at home for less than £10...I won't be going again and can't understand the high regard for this place, unless it's only recently gotten worse?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stéphanie M.Brussel, Région de Bruxelles-Capitale23412 aug 2014
We come here everytime we visit Oxford. Very fresh fish and good service. If you go after 9pm most dishes are priced at 9£. Very good value. We will definitely go back!

We walked past and decided like it looked like a good place to eat. First off the food is incredibly overpriced. Secondly the taste is terrible. We ended up eating at the subway next door since we couldnt finish our plates. Avoid this place like the plague.

Had a great meal and the service was good. The only thing that was unexpected was the atmosphere was a bit more casual than we had expected. Overall we would go back!
