La Prego

Average restaurant in the city center of Hamburg.
First of all I'd like to say that menu is available only in German and English... Service is not bad, and also the food is good, but value for money is not so high, I expected more from Italian restaurant like this one.

Wanted Italian and came across La Prego. They served tasty bread w/ olive oil and the food came out immediately after we ordered. Pasta was awesome. Definitely recommend!

From the outside La Prego looks a bit like a cheap restaurant with plastic decoration, but...inside the decoration creates a fancy place, with a nice, pleasant atmosphere.


The service is great, during lunchtime this place is packed but the waiters work as hard as they can to provide a fast, polite service to everyone; within 5 min. I had my soup arriving, but even better: within 30 seconds we had a basket of fresh bread on our table...! I thought you would normally only get that when you go out for dinner..No, here at La Prego, for lunch as well!


The food is ok, although it looks better then it might taste..
The menu is divers and reasonably priced.


If youre looking for something a bit less commercial than the rest of Gänsemarkt..this is were you should go!

A very average italian restaurant!
I had the feta cheese salad. it was a bed of lettuce and 5 pieces of feta and they forgot to give me a dressing or to salt and pepper it.
The pizza my friend ordered was also ok, but nothing exquisite!
The pasta was apparently quite good.


My "undressed" salad with less than 2 g of feta costed 8EUR... i am not impressed.

An average Italian restaurant like most reviewers already have mentioned. I've been there once, we had a pretty ordinary italian pasta meal plus a nice waiter. It's a good restaurant, I have nothing bad to say about it, but it doesn't really stick out or is outstanding either. Reasonable prices too.

Great find for Italian food! English friendly, menu and people. Service was great and it's situated right on a nice little square. Food was terrific! Pollo Mafiosi is a great name but tastes even better. Reasonable prices too. Can't believe it's not more highly rated for the area.

Fettuccine Alfredo and tortellini al forno were delicious. Great outdoor seating, nice on a sunny day (indoor seating, too).

A very average Italian place smack in the middle of town near Gänsemarkt. There is nothing extraordinary about La Prego. Service is OK yet can be spotty at times. The food is mediocre but has it's good and bad days. I work around the corner so have been here mutliple times. It's a good place to sit outside in the summer and watch people wander by. I've never been for dinner but I can'timagine it's much different. You can do much worse than La Prego yet at the same time, don't come with high expectations. It's also not cheap in any way. Very much aligned with the area's pricing which tends to be on the higher end of the scale. I personally also am not a fan of the decor but everyone has their own tastes. If given the choice and I want pizza or noodles, I go to Vapiano around the corner.
