      I have rented from Hertz at the Brussels airport twice now and each time it was through rentalcars.com. The service at the counter is always professional and courteous. After you fill out the paperwork (it does take some time and is not as automated as some places), you then get your keys and head upstairs with your luggage to the park garage. The cars are then parked in their appropriate spots. Last year I had trouble with the reverse button and gear and the parking attendant was very helpful in teaching me how to reverse my Ford Focus station wagon.

      This year we had to return the car before the office opened at 5am and we were able to leave the car with a full tank of gas and drop the keys in the box outside of the office. When I asked for my final invoice with the airport fee and license fee and tax, the gentlemen that emailed me back when through each step on how to pull an invoice from hertz.com. Each time I have contact with this office they are super helpful and go above and beyond to help you. I will rent from them again and have had great experiences each trip.

      Problem? Service and the fact that the 2 rentals we did with hertz resulted in overcharges for preexisting damage. Cars were handed in with minimum usage and in the exact same conditions (one of them was picked up in the morning and returned that same evening, the other was kept for 2 nights). We got insurance through a third party and they are just looking to squeeze us for more money. Greedy company. Dont do business with them.

      I was worried because of the bad reviews, but my experience with them was great!
      When we got there we realized our luggage would not fit in the car we rented. They gave us a slightly larger car at no additional cost. I drove all over Europe, including the UK. We put tons of miles and dirt on the car, but no scratches. Checkout was literally 2 min! The attendant came out of the office, walked around the car, checked the gas, and gave me my receipt. Make sure before you leave with the car that they go around it with you to check for scratches. That way you're not blamed for any you didn't do.
      I would recommend this place!

      This was the worst Hertz experience I had. Not only was the price for the rental $300 more than other rental companies for the same vehicle (I had originally reserved with another rental company), but the person at the counter continued to give me false information in addition to a stripped down car with no automatic anything. She mentioned that this car would need Diesel fuel - which it did not, which would have been a disaster if I had not double checked with other personnel. She also mentioned that since this was a last minute reservation, my membership would not count.

      It continues with a speeding ticket and Hertz charging me 35 Euro to give my name to the authorities - really???? This was more than the ticket itself. All around a very disappointing experience for a company I have rented many times from before.

      I wish I could go with zero stars for this review, because this was the worst experience I've ever had with a rental car company.

      I picked up the vehicle with a business associate sometime in the early morning of May 2013. After walking around to look for damage in their damp and dark garage, we thought everything looked good. It was a typical rental car with the normal wear & tear on it -- nothing big.

      After returning it a few days later, the attendant told me we put a scratch on the bumper and I'd have to pay for it. I told the guy to show me the scratch, and he pointed to the front bumper. I was standing about three feet from the front of the car and didn't see anything. He insisted that I get closer to see it, and it finally appeared to me after I got down on my knee and put my face about 12 inches from the bumper.

      I told him he had to be kidding, but all of a sudden he forgot how to speak English. After speaking to the manager I realized I was going nowhere, and in my opinion they were running a scam. At this point all I wanted to do was catch my flight home.
      It didn't take long to see the 600Euro charge show up on my corporate credit card. Thankfully the insurance on my corporate visa paid for this mess, but the paperwork took several days and emails to clear up.

      I've been back a couple of times since this incident, and booked through the National Rental Car website -- They were great.

      If you need a rental car in Brussels, do yourself a favor and stay away from Hertz!

      I've rented at Zaventem for the last few years exclusively with Hertz but it appears that I need to look for a different company next time. Service has always been professional and courteous, much better than at Amsterdam Schiphol, but things have changed. This year I rented a car on January 16 flying in from London in the early evening. On my way to Holland to visit family, I left Belgium just after 9pm on the 16th and didn't return until the 22nd to fly out again. Compare rental car prices between A'dam and Brussels and you'll see why Brussels is less expensive. Upon my return in Denver, I got an additional charge for an "administrative fee" and a letter in the mail saying I was caught speeding in Belgium on the 17th (just a street, no city was mentioned) and Hertz charged me for providing my contact information to the authorities in Belgium. When I alerted them to the fact that I couldn't possibly have been in Belgium on the 17th, that I had only driven on highways in Belgium, not streets, and that since Europe is one large speed trap anyway I clearly was going to be careful not to speed, they insisted that the car had been spotted in Belgium on the 17th and I had to pay. Google this practice and you'll find that this kind of racket started in Italy a few years ago with parking tickets and has apparently made its way north.

      To their credit, the car they gave me was pretty decent for the price. Upon return their printer didn't work so I had to wait longer to get a receipt. They suggested they'd email it to me but I wasn't going to fall for that. I made them write down that there was no damage to the car because they tossed my copy of the damage report in the trash rather than giving it back to me after inspection. I wouldn't recommend Hertz Brussels any longer.

      I've rented a car with hertz in Sevilla, and this was a real bad experience. It started when we got the car. We had a discount on the site booking. We had the second driver for free, at the reception they said this wasn't true. It would be €113, they do not take into account discounts from booking. After I said this wasn't fair and I would fill in a complaint form we finally got our discount. When we brought our car back (with a full tank), they asked for a ticked from the gasstation. They didn't told us to keep this ticket, so we didn't. They told us we had to pay for gas, as you know they charge a lot for the gas! So again, I was frustrated and went to the reception. Explained my problem, at first they didn't really listen. They told us they weren't charging anything extra for the gas. But they wouldn't put this in writing. I didn't trust them, so I complained on twitter. At first they wouldn't helpt me, because the reservation was with (And had a booking client number instead of one of them). Then they gave me e-mail off the spaninsh office. Last but not least they now charge me with an extra fee for dropping of the car at the downtow office instead of the airport while I did pick up and dropped of the car at the airport

      I had the same experience as a lot of other unfortunate people on here. They are definitely running a scam at this location, where if you don't book their insurance at the counter, they will charge you for various "scratches" that they will inevitably find on your car after return. I honestly couldn't even see the scratch the guy pointed out to me. Also, he spoke fluent English when pointing out the supposed scratch, but suddenly couldn't speak a word after I told him he was full of it. Of course, none of that prevents the €400 charge that will inevitably appear on your credit card bill a few weeks later. Honestly, do yourself a favor and stay away from the Hertz location at Brussels airport.

      I should have read these reviews before Hertz pulled a bait and switch on me!

      I'd prefer to rate with a negative mark but 1 star is the lowest you can go.

      Not to mention waitong iver 1 hour for the rental.

      My first time in Belgium and I made the mistake of going with a company from tje States.

      Never again Hertz! You lost another customer you clearly don't care about.

      I am a Hertz Gold Customer and have been since Hertz started this program. I have rented from dozens of Hertz locations. I have never been treated like we were in Brussels. We upgraded to a larger car, which is normally a no charge upgrade, but we were charged for it in Brussels. The anticipated bill of $395.00 ended up being over $1,100.

      We returned the car on July 4th and were informed that we would be charged for nearly $600 in damages. They cited two small scratches which they claimed were not on the car when we picked it up. We stored the car in a private single car garage while we had it so I am certain we did not incur these scratches. There were several other scratches similar to the two we were charged for on the car. We had to make our flight so I paid the bill including these charges.

      I took this through the Hertz "customer service" escalation process only to be told the charges were valid. I explained that we had no opportunity to walk around the car and note any damage to the car when we picked it up. They felt we should NOT have trusted Hertz to do the right thing and taken the initiative to force a Hertz employee to walk around the car with us prior to the rental.
